Archbishop George Joseph Biskup

We remember… A little bit of “recent history”… On this day, October 17, 1979, Archbishop George Biskup died in Indianapolis. He had resigned due to ill health, on March 20, 1979. He had been the Archbishop for about nine years, although he served as Co-Adjutor to Archbishop Paul Schulte for about three years.

Archbishop Biskup had the thankless task of leading the Church of Indianapolis through the 1970’s, a time of great upheaval.

Here is a very informative Wikipedia Article on this quiet and unassuming man.
