Moments of Indiana (Catholic ) History

Indiana University, their radio station WFIU, and others, including the Indiana Historical Society, produce a podcast called “This Moment of Indiana History”. The program is short (usually about 2 minutes), and gives information about a particular person, place or thing important to the history of Indiana.

Included among their programs are two people who are very important to the history of the Catholic Church in Indiana. St. Mother Theodore Guérin and Benjamin Marie Petit. You can read the story of Mother Theodore by clicking here,

The piece about Fr. Petit is actually a piece about the Pottawatomie “Trail of Death”. Mention is made of Fr. Petit who accompanied the Indians on their forced march to Kansas. Read the story by clicking here.
